The Peruvian American Chamber of Commerce
The Chamber's mission is to promote trade between the United States and Peru between individuals and firms from these two countries. In this process, the friendship and closer relations between the businessmen of these two nations will be enhanced.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to our founding members and to the friends and members of the Chamber who have supported our institution over the years. Let us pay tribute to our most distinguished contributors by reviewing our accomplishments to date:
At the height of the cholera epidemic in Latin America in March 1991, our lobbying efforts in Washington with FDA and USDA authorities were instrumental in lifting the ban on Peruvian imports of fresh and frozen foods in the United States. US ports
Lobbying efforts by the Chamber together with those of Peruvian government and private sector authorities in sessions with US government authorities (USDC, USDA, USTR) were vital in obtaining special tax treatment under the auspices of the SGP to the products of origin of the Andean nations.
Formal working agreements to share business opportunities and valuable market information have been signed between our Chamber and the Lima Chamber of Commerce, the Association of Exporters (ADEX), the National Industrial Society (SNI) and the Chamber of Commerce of American Lima of Lima. (Amcham).
The reactivation of the Peruvian trade and tourism seminar in August 1991, sponsored by the Chamber and attended by Peruvian and US government officials from the relevant sectors, concluded that the sanitary and quality controls of US imports. From Peru they would be made in Peru by the authorities acceptable to all.
The Chamber estimates that, on an annual basis, the aggregate sales volume generated between members and friends of the chamber exceeds $20,000,000 and growing.
The many events that the Chamber has organized in Lima and Miami over the years have featured distinguished speakers, including the following personalities: Alejandro Toledo, former President of Peru; Liliana Canale and Victor Joy, Ministers of Industry and Commerce; Jose Luque Otero, president of the Lima Stock Exchange; Arturo Woodman, president of the Confederation of Private Sector Companies (CONFIEP);
